The Grant County Historical Museum preserves and interprets the rich chronology of Grant County, with particular emphasis on the history of Canyon City. Focusing on the melting pot of pioneers, settlers, Chinese immigrants and others who came to the area seeking gold and other natural resources, the museum utilizes antique weapons, gold mining equipment and other artifacts to walk visitors through the centuries. The museum lies in Canyon City, a few miles south of the town of John Day.
